What Is Interval Training?

Interval training is fast becoming the new ‘cardio’ as it is reported to by much more effective than cardio if you want to drop the fat fast.

So What Is Interval Training?

Interval training is a type of training regime that involves exercises at extreme levels of intensity followed by exercises done at lower level of intensities. When you combine these two different levels of trainings you get ‘intervals’, hence the name interval training.

One example of interval training could be done by somebody who is on an exercise bike. The person could start off at a low speed of cycling for 2 minutes followed by a quick spurt of cycling at high speed for a minute. Once the high intensity cycling has been finished, they would then revert back to the lower speed for 2 minutes again, then that would be followed up by the minute of high intensity again.

Interval training can come in many forms and can be done on many different exercises such as running, swimming and rowing.

Is it Effective?

Interval training is effective because it really demands a high level of endurance and focus to consistently undertake it. Interval training allows the person to get a really high intense workout without overworking the body too much. The periods of slower paced intervals allow the exerciser to get a small rest before taking it up a notch again.

In another words Interval training allows you to get the most intense and fastest fat burning workout you can do without over doing it.

If you find that you often don’t have enough time to exercise during the week then interval training would probably be a good solution as much less time is needed than a regular cardio workout.
